What Are Bioidentical Hormones?
Bioidentical hormones are hormones that are structurally identical to the hormones that we produce in our own bodies. Because they are identical, these hormones exactly mimic what your body produces on its own (or used to produce on its own), so there are much fewer (if any) negative side effects.
Bioidentical hormones are prepared in a laboratory from natural sources, usually soy or wild yam. Because our bodies cannot change soy &/or wild yam into hormones directly, these steps must be performed in the lab in order to synthesize hormones that are structurally identical to those found in our bodies.  Starting with a simple, non-invasive saliva hormone test that can be done in the comfort of your home, BioHRT will rush you your testing supplies along with the necessary forms and return mailer to submit your sample to the lab.
Once the results are received from the lab, (5-7 days on average) we will contact you to schedule your initial in-office visit with one of our physicians. During this hour long visit you will undergo a short physical examination, go over past medical history and address your symptoms. Upon completion of your consultation, your BioHRT physician will design a treatment program that may include prescription bioidentical hormones and other nutritional supplements.
BioHRT closely monitors your progress while on our program. Each patient is scheduled for follow up telephonic consultations every ninety days while on our program to ensure optimal results in balancing and maintaining optimal hormone levels.

Out-of-state Patients
 While we encourage all of our patients to visit our Wellness Center, we do understand that it is not always possible for everyone to travel. For these patients we have telephone consultations with a licensed practitioner to listen to patient concerns, evaluate hormone test results and to offer answers to questions and concerns about hormones and other related health concerns. You must first register online before requesting a telephonic consultation. It is recommended that you complete a saliva hormone test prior to your telephonic consultation so the physician can interpret the results with you during this time.

About Health Insurance
BioHRT does not accept health insurance for payment, however that does not necessarily mean that you are not covered. Many insurance companies DO cover naturopathic medicine and hormone replacement therapy. Insurance companies that say they do not, may say this because they do not know how to handle the claim or the claims agents may be unaware of the licensed naturopathic medical profession. This will change only when enough people file claims or ask for coverage.
In several states naturopathic physicians are licensed to practice medicine. Therefore, unless your insurance policy specifically excludes naturopaths, by law they must cover the services. Because naturopathic physicians are usually not included on the list of covered providers, the reimbursement you will receive will usually be an "out of network" reimbursement. BioHRT will provide you a copy of a super bill that can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Getting Off Synthetic Hormone Replacement Therapy
Patients who are currently prescribed synthetic hormones can slowly be weaned off synthetic hormones and placed on safer and more effective alternative therapies. Because many women and men are blood tested prior to traditional hormone therapy, they are often overdosed and many of their symptoms can be associated with excessive synthetic hormone therapy.
