What Are Bioidentical Hormones?

Bioidentical hormones are hormones that are structurally identical to the hormones that we produce in our own bodies.  Because they are identical, these hormones exactly mimic what your body produces on its own (or used to produce on its own), so there are much fewer, if any negative side effects. Bioidentical hormones are prepared in a laboratory from natural sources, usually soy or wild yam.  Because our bodies cannot change soy and/or wild yam into hormones directly, these steps must be performed in the lab in order to synthesize hormones that are structurally identical to those found in our bodies.  Once these hormones are produced, we can use them to replace the missing hormones in our bodies in the exact amounts that we naturally produce them, and in the correct rhythms and patterns that our bodies naturally produce them.

Step 1
To get started with BioHRT's natural hormone program you must first register online and provide us with your name and contact information. As soon as you complete your online registration, you will be given the opportunity to self-schedule a free hormone evaluation with one of our highly trained patient care counselors. During your evaluation your counselor will ask you about your symptoms, current or past treatments and explain our program in detail. Step 2
If you decide BioHRT is the right solution to you, our physicians will order your necessary non-invasive saliva hormone test and mail you the testing kit along with the necessary lab forms and return mailer to submit your sample to the lab.. You may complete your hormone test from the comfort of your own home and mail the samples directly to to the lab with the mailer that comes with your test kit.. Test results arrive in about 5-7 business days from the lab.

Once your results are in your counselor will contact you to schedule your initial in-office or telephone consultation with a BioHRT physician. During your hour-long consultation the physician will discuss your symptoms, review your lab test results and discuss possible treatment options that are available to you. All treatment programs are individualized to your specific needs and if necessary may include a custom compounded Bioidentical hormone prescription and other nutritional supplements. Your custom prescription will be sent directly to a compounding pharmacy of your choice and will delivered to your home within a couple of days.

Step 3
Once your treatment program has begun, our medical staff will contact you approximately 20 days into your program to discuss how your treatment is progressing. If necessary we may schedule a quick follow up with your physician based on your progress and symptoms. Generally all prescriptions and supplements are prescribed for a 3 month term with scheduled follow up consultations every 80-90 days to renew your prescription. Your counselor will contact you two weeks before your prescription is due to run out to schedule your follow up consultation. This ensures there is no gaps in treatment and gives the compounding pharmacy enough time to refill your prescription.
